FASHION & DESIGN – RINGMER

 

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Learn the skills needed to design and create your own unique outfit, using our state of the art fashion and textile facilities. Be taught by industry professionals who will support you to reach your full creative potential and bring your ideas to life.

Develop knowledge in a wide range of areas including:

  • History of fashion and design
  • Introduction to design skills
  • Fashion Drawing
  • Sewing techniques
  • Pattern Cutting
  • Textiles
  • Art and Design
  • Explore more of art and fashion on a trip to the London’s V&A Museum

 

WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS COURSE?

You will have the opportunity to study Functional Skills which will entail basic Maths, English and ICT embedded within the course which can help you to progress onto college.

All courses also include Elements of personal and social development to help you move on following your time with us. These can include:

Alcohol and Drugs Awareness

Sexual Health

Health and Nutrition

Young Fathers / Mothers Groups

Any other subject you would like to discuss!


CAN I GET A QUALIFICATION?

Whilst on our programmes you can achieve:

 

Vocational:

  • NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative craft using Fashion
  • NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative craft using Textiles
  • NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative craft using Pattern Cutting

 

Personal Social Development:
  • NOCN L1 Award - Step Up
  • NCFE Level 1 Award in Demonstrating Enterprise Skills
Functional Skills:
  • NCFE FS Maths
  • NCFE FS English
  • NCFE FS ICT 

 

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE COURSE?

You will be supported by Dv8 to gain a college place or find employment or apprenticeships.

 

PROGRESSION

• Level 2 Fashion and Design courses

• Work Placement in Creative Industries

• Employment in Creative Industries and Retail


CURRENT RINGMER FOUNDATION LEARNING COURSES

These are 15 hours per week and spread over 20 weeks.

Tue 11am – 5pm.   Wed 11am – 5pm   Thurs 11am – 5pm


WHO CAN TAKE THESE COURSES?

To qualify for Foundation Learning you must be:

Between 16-18

Not in work or education

Have not yet achieved more than 5 GCSE's between A-C

Have not yet achieved a full level 2 qualification.

 

If you have an interest in the fashion industry and would like to learn new skills or develop existing ones then Dv8 wants to hear from you; no prior experience is necessary!
