GAIN A QUALIFICATION
On all Dv8 courses learners will be supported to gain qualifications which will help them progress into further education or work. We offer a variety of different qualifications on our courses, most of which can be obtained naturally as learners progress through the course and without a final test (with the exception of Literacy Levels 1 & 2).

ARTS AWARD (BRONZE OR SILVER)
Arts Awards are nationally recognised Level 1 (Bronze) and Level 2 (Silver) qualifications and a great thing to add to a CV! Learners do not need to sit any tests to gain these qualifications; instead they will go through a series of activities and put together an arts folder with the support of Dv8 tutors.

The Arts Award recognises a contribution to the arts through a series of activities. Learners are active participants in arts activities such as making music or performing; and will also get the chance to give their own feedback on different art forms. Units on the Bronze and Silver Awards include:

  • Taking part in the arts
  • Going to see an arts event such as a play, a gig or a gallery show
  • Reviewing an event
  • Researching arts heroes and heroines
  • Finding out about Industry Jobs
  • Being an Arts Leader

Arts Awards are available on all Key Stage 4 Engagement Programmes and on Brighton's e2e course.

NOCN STEP-UP AWARD (pre-16) & PROGRESSION AWARD (post-16)
These qualifications offer learners a wide, engaging and personalised curriculum choice, providing them with a range of options and activities.

A Step-UP or a Progression Award is achieved through successfully completing activities in a number of varied projects and building up a portfolio of work. They are made up of a minimum of three simple units taken from a mixture of topics, such as:

  • Songwriting
  • Performance Arts
  • Creative Writing
  • Music Production
  • Fashion
  • Graphic Design
  • Literacy and numeracy
  • ICT
  • Employability
  • Personal and social development

LITERACY LEVEL 1 & 2
Learners on an e2e course with Dv8 in Brighton will have the chance to gain a Level 1 or 2 in Literacy which can be a massive help in job or college applications. Learners will be supported through a series of exercises and then take a small test to achieve their qualification.

A Literacy qualification can help people work more confidently and independently and is a great addition to a CV! Literacy Level 1 is the equivalent of a GCSE at grade D or below and Level 2 is the equivalent of a GCSE at Grade C.
