FOUNDATION LEARNING PERFORMING ARTS

This is a hands-on course which will give you the know-how to become a performing artist. Whether you'd like to develop acting, singing or dance skills, or would like to learn how to combine these in exciting ways, there's something in it for you! You'll also learn about the inner workings of the performance industry, from stage craft to production. Work alongside experienced performers, get tips on your own performance ideas and learn the best techniques from them.

You will learn many new skills that can be taken into the world of work such as how to use computers, work in groups, project planning, how to write professional emails and much more.

Dv8 aim to help you to develop the confidence to progress into college or work following your time with us by helping you achieve great things that most young people don't get the chance to do!

WHAT ELSE IS IN THIS COURSE?

You will have the opportunity to study Functional Skills, with basic Maths, English and ICT embedded into the course in a fun and relevant way. These can help you to progress onto college.
All courses also include elements of personal and social development to help you move on following your time with us.

HOW WILL I SPEND MY TIME?

You will be based at Dv8's training centre in Bexhill for two and a half days per week. You will be taught by industry professionals, work in teams to deliver exciting projects and learn all about the world of performance.

CAN I GET A QUALIFICATION?

Yes! Whilst on our programmes you can achieve performance qualifications and Personal and Social Development qualifications such as the NOCN Step Up Certificate.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE COURSE?

You will be supported by Dv8 to gain a college place, or find employment, voluntary work or apprenticeships. For those on programme that show commitment and a positive attitude throughout we will aim to find you a work placement in the creative industries!

CURRENT BEXHILL FOUNDATION LEARNING COURSES

The next course will start September / October 2011.  It is two and a half days per week and spread over 17 weeks.

WHO CAN TAKE THESE COURSES?

To qualify for Foundation Learning you must be:
Between 16-18
Not in work or education
Have not yet achieved more than 5 GCSE's between A-C
Have not yet achieved a full level 2 qualification
